Alpha-I Launch Strengthens U.S.-Indonesia Partnership

On June 26, Ambassador Robert Blake and Deputy Chief of Mission Kristen Bauer hosted a reception to officially launch Alpha-I, a registered community service organization that is comprised of approximately 100 Indonesian professionals who earned master’s or doctoral degrees through U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) scholarships. The majority of these alumni graduated from U.S. universities. The new Alpha-I organization will be an important vehicle for alumni to channel their talents to advance Indonesia’s development. Members take the skills developed during their advanced studies and contribute back to communities, advancing positive change in the areas of health, education, environment, and democracy and governance.
