Ambassador Blake’s Travel to Jambi

During his June 4-5, 2014 visit to Jambi Province, Ambassador Blake highlighted clean energy initiatives and opportunities. The visit also highlighted Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and Millennium Challenge Account – Indonesia (MCA-I) Green Prosperity initiatives, which address critical challenges to economic growth while supporting the Government of Indonesia’s commitment to a more sustainable, less carbon-intensive future. During his visit, Ambassador Blake and Embassy colleagues also visited a local palm oil factory to discuss application of waste treatment technology designed to generate electricity from the capture of methane emitted from Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). While at Jambi University, the Ambassador also delivered a keynote address on environmental issues and encouraged university officials to expand educational partnerships with U.S. institutions.
