In honor of the spirit of Ramadan and to demonstrate U.S. respect for reaching out to the less fortunate at this time of year, Ambassador Donovan hosted a Buka Puasa at his residence on June 7th for over 100 children from Al Maun Muhammadiyah Orphanage, Jakarta and Raksa Orphanage, Bogor. Prior to the sundown prayer the children were entertained by the Jakarta Performing Arts Community, a group of local theatrical performers and singers, which was founded by an alumna of the Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program. They sang showtunes from various Broadway musicals to the children’s delight.
