JAKARTA – On May 11th, Ambassador Sung Y. Kim launched the “TravelUSA: American Destinations and Culture” campaign to promote tourism from Indonesia to the United States. The event was attended by 70 Indonesian tourism operators and featured information on the U.S. travel industry and visitor visa process. “Tourism is a vital sector to both of our economies. Visits from the United States to Indonesia are on the rise again, and the United States welcomes Indonesian visitors with open arms. U.S. travel possibilities are limitless with premier U.S. destinations and opportunities to experience American culture,” said Ambassador Kim.
The United States continues to be a popular choice for Indonesian travelers with visas in high demand. “We issued over 57,000 visitor visas in 2022 and are set to break that record this year. While we encourage people to apply early, we have plenty of appointments available, and we issue visas in over 90 percent of cases. The process has also been made more convenient and in many cases people can apply by mail. We stand ready to assist,” said Consul General Eric Alexander.
The year-long U.S. embassy initiative will highlight the wide range of travel opportunities available to tourists visiting the United States to experience the arts, world-famous cuisine, high quality education, world class shopping, and a range of sporting events. “With the travel and tourism industry showing strong signs of recovery, we encourage Indonesians to visit the United States. You can have unforgettable travel experiences, no matter your interests – which is why more than 50 million international visitors from around the world traveled to the United States last year,” said Eric Hsu, Counselor for Commercial Affairs.
Indonesian visa applicants can usually obtain an interview within two weeks. The U.S. Embassy provides detailed information about making an appointment, completing an application, and preparing for your visa interview.
