Ambassador Kim’s Independence Day Celebration Remarks

Good evening, selamat datang, selamat malam. A very warm welcome to our special guests of honor my friend Coordinating Minister Luhut and ASEAN Deputy Secretary General Tene. Ministers, Ambassadors…, distinguished guests, thank you so much for joining us to celebrate this important occasion.

As we mark 247 years of America’s independence, I am reminded of our shared democratic foundations — freedom, tolerance, and diversity. Tonight’s theme “Red, White, and Bluegrass: Celebrating The 247th Year of American Independence and our Culture of Diversity” ties into this perfectly. And I’m not talking about our common passion for line dancing. I’m talking about our shared unity in diversity, which in many ways is our greatest strength.

Tonight, we are also celebrating our special partnership with Indonesia. And there is a lot to celebrate.

Our partnership promotes prosperity. Together, we are advancing economic growth and environmental protection.

Our partnership enhances regional security. Together, we are protecting our shared goal of a free, open, peaceful, and resilient Indo-Pacific.

Our partnership also celebrates our people and builds lasting connections. Together, we are laying the foundation for a brighter future.

For me, the most exciting aspect of our great partnership is the enormous potential for us to do more together.

So, tonight, as we celebrate our shared accomplishments, let’s look forward to a shared future filled with boundless opportunities. And as we go forward, I hope we can continue to count on your friendship and support. Thank you very much. Terima kasih banyak.
