Consul General Joaquin Monserrate welcomed prominent members of the Surabaya Chinese-Indonesian community and other invited guests to the consulate for a Chinese New Year event entitled, The Role of Chinese Descendants in Building a Nation: the Indonesian and American Experience on January 28. Several Chinese Indonesians presented on their ancestors role in the development of Indonesia and PAO gave remarks highlighting the role Chinese Americans have played throughout American history. The event received wide media coverage.
