American Corners are partnerships between the U.S. Embassy and major universities in Indonesia, and are part of a global network of nearly 700 similar venues around the world dedicated to strengthening connections between the American people and foreign audiences.
By hosting cultural programs, offering information on study opportunities in the USA, supporting local English learners and teachers, building stronger relations with alumni of U.S. universities and exchange programs, and providing access to research databases and authoritative information on the USA, our network of nine American Corners across Indonesia are committed to fostering closer people-to-people ties between the people of Indonesia and the USA, supporting greater collaboration between our two countries in the field of research and innovation, and empowering young Indonesians to connect with their counterparts in ASEAN, America and around the globe.

Istiqlal Mosque: Voice Of Istiqlal
The American Space at Istiqlal Mosque is a partnership program between the Public Affairs Section of Embassy of the United States of America in Indonesia with the Voice Of Istiqlal Division of Istiqlal National Mosque in Jakarta. This partnership was solidified by an MOU on April 6, 2023.
This space offers a wide range of public programs, print and multimedia resources to facilitate the general public interested in learning about American policies, society, culture and values, as well as English learning and study in the U.S. Visitors also have access to eLibraryUSA, a virtual library with access to scholarly and research journals as well as news and magazines.
This is the only American Space located in a Mosque and includes outreach activities focused on democracy, interfaith dialogue, human rights, and diversity along with promoting education and skills-building for youth ages 18-35.
The Space is a large, flexible room in the Mosque library with books, computers, and a projector and screen. It can accommodate about 40 people for in-person programs.
The American Space at Istiqlal Mosque is open to the general public and visitors may benefit from the resources and programming for free.

Universitas Andalas
The American Corner of Universitas Andalas (AC UNAND) is the partnership program between the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of the United States of America in Indonesia with Andalas University (UNAND). AC UNAND was opened on March 6, 2014.
The Corner is the latest addition to American Corners network in Indonesia. It provides access to information about the United States and offers various programs aim to enhance the mutual understanding between United States and Indonesia.
AC UNAND currently holds numerous information sources covering diverse aspects of the United States society, values and cultures. Visitors can obtain this information through books, e-books, movies DVD, music CDs, games and eLibraryUSA, a virtual library which provide access to prominent academic journals, periodicals, and other authoritative databases.
The Corner has very active volunteers whom regularly held program and event related to youth needs and interest.

The American Corner of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (AC UIN Jakarta) is the partnership program between the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of the United States of America in Indonesia with State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (UIN Jakarta). It was opened on March 18, 2004.
The Corner offers programs/activities frequently and extensive information resources about a diverse aspect of American policies, values, society and culture. One of the valuable information resources available at AC UIN Jakarta is eLibraryUSA, a virtual library with access to scholarly and research journals as well as news and magazines. Users could access eLibraryUSA using Corner’s public PCs connected to a dedicated high-speed internet. WiFi is also available in Corner’s vicinity.

The American Corner of Institut Teknologi Bandung (AC ITB) is the partnership program between the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of the United States of America in Indonesia with Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
John A. Heffern (Deputy Chief of Mission of U.S. Embassy Jakarta) and Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Santoso (Rector ITB 2005-2010) jointly opened the Corner on February 19, 2008.
AC ITB offers a wide range of public programs, prints and multimedia resources to facilitate the general public whose interests to learn about American policies, society, cultures and values, including English learning and study in the U.S. One of the valuable information resources available at AC ITB is eLibraryUSA, a virtual library with access to scholarly and research journals as well as news and magazines
As the only American Corner in Indonesia hosted by an Engineering and Technology School, AC ITB also provides access to 3D printers. The Corner visitors could utilize the technology to produce 3D objects for non-commercial purposes.

The American Corner of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (AC UMY) is the partnership program between the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of the United States of America in Indonesia with University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). AC UMY opened on April 25, 2004.
AC UMY has an extensive collection titles outlining a diverse aspects of American society, cultures, values and policies. They are available in both print and multimedia formats, such as gaming, DVD movies, CD music and many more. A highlight of information resources accessible at the Corner is eLibraryUSA, a virtual library that consists of academic and research resources, news and magazine.
English learning program is one of the Corner’s popular activities. Users could improve their English comprehension by participating in Corner’s movie screenings, conversation clubs, grammar classes, and gaming sessions.

The American Corner of Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (AC UMM) is the partnership program between the Public Affairs Section of the Embassy of the United States of America in Indonesia with University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). AC UMM opened on September 8, 2004.
AC UMM offers a wide range of public programs to engage general public whose interests in American policies, culture, society and values. Being supported with a dedicated-high speed internet connection, the Corner hosts not only the in-persons programs but also digital and virtual ones. The Corner’s regular program on English learning is one of the popular programs amongst English learners and teachers in Malang area. An EducationUSA Advising Center is located next to the Corner to serve those who need consultation on study in the U.S.
To facilitate Indonesians to learn about America, AC UMM shares info about America through its prints and multimedia collection titles, like DVD movies, CD music and gaming. AC UNTAN was opened on February 16, 2012 by U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel and Prof. Dr. Thamrin Usman (Rector UNTAN, 2011-2015).
The Corner facilitates Indonesians to learn about American society, cultures, values, and polices through its extensive collection of prints, multimedia and online resources such as eLibraryUSA, a virtual library that consists of academic and research journals as well as news and magazines.
AC UNTAN regularly runs hundreds of English teaching and learning programs through activities like grammar classes, conversation/discussion clubs, movie screening, gaming and competitions. In some special occasions, to further tell stories about America, the Corner conducts camp or workshop programs. Additionally, the Corner also offers access to 3D printer. User could use this fun technology to experiment with and print 3D objects for non-commercial purpose
