Public Affairs

The Public Affairs Section, located in the main Consulate building in Surabaya, organizes informational and cultural programs about the United States for Indonesian audiences. These include, among others: educational exchanges, speakers and seminars, outreach programs, press conferences, and dissemination of print materials about the United States. The Public Affairs Section issues Consulate press releases and the Public Affairs Officer serves as the official spokesperson for the Consulate.

Education is a main priority of the Public Affairs Section, which conducts school outreach programs on education, exchange, and available scholarship throughout the twelve-province district and works closely with the Regional English Language Office at the Embassy in Jakarta on English teaching activities. The Public Affairs Section also works with the Information Resource Center (IRC) in Jakarta, a sophisticated state-of-the-art research and information service located at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta as well as throughout eleven American Corners in Indonesia.
