The Indonesian Armed Forces and the U.S. Army Pacific commenced participation in the Garuda Shield 2019 exercise which is being held in eastern Java, Indonesia from 19-30 Aug 2019.
Garuda Shield is a regularly-scheduled, bilateral exercise sponsored by U.S. Army Pacific and hosted annually by the Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI – Indonesian Army Forces). This year marks the thirteenth iteration of this continuing effort to promote regional peace and security.
Approximately 700 U.S. Army Pacific personnel from Japan, California, Hawaii, Washington State, and Wisconsin, and approximately 700 Indonesian soldiers are conducting a series of bilateral military partnership and training events focused on peace support operations. They will include a bilateral Brigade Staff exercise, a field training exercise, aviation and medical training, and a combined arms live fire exercise.
