Jessica Panchatha arrived in Medan in July 2018 to begin her assignment as the Deputy Principal Officer (Deputy Consul). She has previously served in Mbabane, Swaziland, as the Political/Economic Section Chief and in Guadalajara, Mexico, as a Consular Officer. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, she worked on international trade policy in the private sector for seven years and spent several years working on community development projects in northern Thailand. She also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand from 2004 to 2005.
Jessica graduated from the George Washington University in Washington DC with a B.A. in International Affairs, concentrating on International Economics, and a minor in French Language and Literature. She has also spent time living abroad in France and Australia. She is married with three young children.
