On July 15, Ambassador Blake traveled to nearby Tangerang to visit the Daar El Qolam Pesantren, an Islamic boarding school founded in 1968. Speaking to an enthusiastic audience of 800 high school students, the Ambassador focused on religious diversity in the U.S. and the vibrant role of Islam in American culture and society. He answered questions from students and was joined by a YES Program alumnus, who shared his experiences as an Indonesian exchange student, notably how he observed Ramadan while in the United States.
