Secretary Raimondo’s and Ambassador Tai’s Meetings with Indonesian Minister Luhut Pandjaitan

WASHINGTON – Today, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo met with Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Pandjaitan. During their meeting, the Secretary thanked the Coordinating Minister for his government’s strong support for the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF), including hosting the previous negotiating round in Bali. The two also discussed their shared goals and objectives leading up to the next round of IPEF negotiations, which will take place in Singapore next month. Additionally, the Secretary and Coordinating Minister also discussed opportunities for increased bilateral economic cooperation.

USTR Ambasador Tai’s Meeting with Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Pandjaitan

WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai met today with the Indonesian Minister of Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Ambassador Tai and Minister Luhut discussed the importance of the U.S.—Indonesia trade relationship both bilaterally and within the greater context of the region. Ambassador Tai voiced the United States’ appreciation for Indonesia’s active participation in negotiations for the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF). They discussed bilateral issues, including horticultural import licensing.  Minister Luhut raised the topic of critical minerals, and Ambassador Tai reiterated that any future critical minerals talks would involve close consultation with Congress and domestic stakeholders.
