On May 18, USAID’s Program to Extend Scholarships to Achieve Sustainable Impacts (PRESTASI) held a ceremony to mark the successful completion of English-language, leadership, and statistics training for 37 Indonesians who will pursue a master’s degree in the US in the 2016 academic year.
After completion of their degree, the scholars will return to Indonesia as experts in the fields of marine and fisheries, forestry, global climate change, water and sanitation, economic growth, clean energy, agriculture, and education. Upon their return, scholars will work in an Indonesian government ministry (Marine and Fisheries, Environment and Forestry, Public Works and Housing, Finance), public university (Universitas Muhammadiyah, Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Hassanudin), or civil society organizations (Greenpeace Indonesia, Lentera Indonesia).
Since 2007, USAID’s PRESTASI program has provided nearly 300 scholarships to Indonesian professionals and public servants.
