To celebrate World Population Day and International Youth Day, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affairs Kristen Bauer welcomed over 150 young activists, community leaders, and officials to a series of panel discussions at @america on July 23. The goal was to find sustainable solutions on how youth can work with governments, NGO, and international organizations to build capacity and solve problems. The Chargé spoke about the need to invest in youth development in education and cited how the U.S. Embassy sent more than 200 Indonesian students on exchange programs to the U.S. in the past year. This collaboration between the U.S. Embassy and United Nations agencies in Jakarta (including UNFPA, UNESCO, ILO) is another example of efforts to improve people-to-people ties between the U.S. and Indonesia.
