Unity in Diversity: Ambassador Hosts Halal Bi-Halal with Lakota Dancer, Promotes Indigenous Peoples

On August 18, Ambassador Robert Blake hosted a halal bi-halal reception for 100 high-level contacts working in education, business, environmental conservation, and government. Celebrating the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People, performances and storytelling by Lakota Sioux dancer-musician Kevin Locke and 15 Dayak dancers from Kalimantan focused on preserving their native traditions, including the environment. Joining American and Indonesian traditions of dance and storytelling reflects the U.S. Embassy’s commitment to celebrate the shared cultural diversity of the United States and Indonesia.
