Weather Alert – U. S. Embassy Jakarta, Indonesia 28 July 2023
Location: Many areas of Indonesian seas (see below)
Event: The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BKMG) has warned various coastal communities to remain vigilant of 6-meter waves, high velocity winds, and other dangerous sea conditions in Indonesian waters on July 28.
The areas cited to be significantly affected are the west and south of the Sunda Strait, south of Banten Waters, north of Lombok Strait, Bali Sea, Sumbawa Sea, south of Makassar Strait, Maluku Sea, Halmahera Sea, south of Merauke Waters, and Arafuru Sea.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid water travel and water sports activities in areas confirmed to be at risk of dangerous conditions.
- Remain vigilant if visiting or doing water activities in coastal areas.
- Monitor local media and the BKMG for updates.
